BOXBOROUGH 2012 REAL & PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENTS

If you disagree with the assessed value or your property, you may file for an abatement.  You can pick up an application for an abatement at the Assessor's office or download the form.

PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS, TAX DEFERRALS AND TAX ABATEMENTS

Per Massachusetts General Laws, a variety of TAX EXEMPTIONS are available to reduce the property tax obligations for certain qualifying taxpayers:

  • Elderly Persons
  • Blind Persons
  • Veterans with service connected disabilities and/or veteran awards, such as Purple Heart, Gold Star, Congressional Medal of Honor, etc.
  • Orphaned minor child, surviving spouse or orphaned minor of a police officer or firefighter killed in the line of duty.

Also available are TAX DEFFERRAL programs for:

  • Qualifying persons 65 years of age or over
  • Any person experiencing temporary financial hardship

Other programs, Senior TAX ABATEMENTS:

  • Seniors are also able to abate their taxes up to $750 per year through the Senior Citizen Property Tax Work-Off Abatement, referred to as the Senior Work-Off.
