The members of the Airport Study Committee (ASC) are appointed by the Board of Selectmen to a three-year term. The ASC reviews documents and plans submitted to various state and federal agencies by Minute Man Air Field, assesses their potential impact to the Town of Boxborough, and disseminates information to the Board of Selectmen and other appropriate town committees. Examples of documents filed by Minute Man Air Field and reviewed by the ASC are as follows:
  • Environmental Notification Form
  • 5-year Safety Improvement Plan
  • The Draft Environmental Impact Report
  • The airfield's Revised Regulations.
In addition, members of ASC represent the town at Massachusetts Aeronautic Commission meetings and FAA meetings.

A major task currently facing the ASC members will be to review the Final Environmental Impact Report as soon as it is published by Minute Man Air Field. Once the FEIR is accepted by the FAA, members of the ASC will review plans for various projects in the FEIR as they are submitted by the airfield, attend permitting meetings, and ensure that appropriate town committees and boards are notified of the meetings.
